What Is The Seed Project?
Our farm started as the Incubator Seed Farm in 2016, and over the years, the seed production and training hub has evolved and grown. We focus on reliable seed production, community education, workshops, and internships for aspiring seed farmers and home gardeners. There are educational opportunities for all levels of seed savers and beyond. Our farm is one of the first in Duncan to focus on increasing our local seed supply and knowledge of ecologically grown, regionally-adapted, open-pollinated and open-source seeds. Our practices support soil regeneration and community building.
Seed Bank.
The Seed Bank offers the community locally adapted and diverse seeds for purchase. We offer varieties of vegetables, legumes, grains, fruits, herbs, and flowers. The seed bank is maintained, grown, rotated, and packaged by our staff and volunteers. We ensure high-quality seeds and produce with germination testing, “growing out” specific crops, and recording their characteristics and genetic traits.

The Community Seed Library is a significant project on the farm. It offers the community access to seeds grown and saved by our farm, other local seed savers, and neighbours. Our farm team and the community members track and grow these seeds. There are educational resources and workshops available throughout the seasons. Ideally, we hope members return or further contribute seeds at the end of the growing season.
